2oth Friedrich World Championship, 2025

The Participants

Due to many last minute cancellations, only 17 players participated at the FWC this year. One player gave his FWC-debut.

The players came from the following countries: Germany (8), Spain (1), Great Britain (1), Netherlands (2), Norway (1), Ireland (1), Poland (1), Slovakia (1), Sweden (1).

Due to the format, the number of participants has to be a multiple of 4. Therefore, Alex Schröder, Anton Telle, Thorsten Hennig, Richard Shako, and the Friedrich designer Richard Sivél jumped in. They played out of competition.

Who was playing who was decided by drawing lots. Like in the previous years, every player could meet each player only once in the tournament. Furthermore, the lots were pre-sorted into pots in such a way that players coming from the same hometown group could not meet each other.
