12th Friedrich World Championship, 2017

The Participants


Altogether, 27 players paricipated in the 12th FWC. For 2 players it was their first participation.

The players came from the following countries: Germany (17), Spain (4), Great Britain (2), Netherlands (2), Sweden (1), USA (1).

Due to the format, the number of participants has to be a multiple of 4. Therefore, the Friedrich designer Richard Sivél filled the gap as spontaneous helpers. He played out of competition.

Who was playing against whom was decided by drawing lots. Like in the previous years, every player could meet each player only once in the tournament. Furthermore, the lots were pre-sorted into pots in such a way that players coming from the same city could not meet each other.
